Biotechnology Research Center

 

The group of biotechnology was developed as an independent body froin 1980 within the Iranian  Research Organization for Science and Technology (IROST). 
Before the
above transformation, since 1980, the group's activities were carried out conquering the name of "The Group of Femientation and Biological Technology". The activities of the group of biotechnology, with the new name, started in order to establish the center so the first project was "Culture Collection of Industrial and Infectious Microorganisms", namely 
"Persian Type Culture Collection (PTCC)".

The research on the application of Bacillus thuringiensis against anopheles larvae, which was undertaken by an number of laboratory scale projects, resulted in a luminous outcome which lead to the pilot scale production of the above Bacillus.
In
1989, following the approval of the above mentioned project, the initial preliminaries for construction of the biotechnology pilot plant was formulated.
With the approval of the equipment and the machinery, as well as purchase of the raw materials, the pilot was officially inaugurated in 1990.
